Artist Craftsman Hand Forged Iron Griddle 70's Vintage
Wonderful hand forged iron griddle was made by an artist craftsman whose name I do not recall. We purchased it new in the early 1970's from the craft shop at Peter's Valley, a craft colony and school in Layton, located in the Northwestern tip of New Jersey, in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. It is operated in cooperation with the National Park Service.
\r\rIt has a twisted riveted 8" long handle riveted on the corner of a large 12" square with slightly upturned sides. The surface was hand hammered while the iron was red hot. The surface is slightly irregular but it shows the handmade quality and is smooth enough for its purpose. It has been a great piece to use and to look at. Lots of room for pancakes, eggs and omlets, hamburgers, etc. We've used it for 30 years. It has held up well and is in very good condition, with many years of use and enjoyment still to be had from it.
