Signed Japanese Hanging Vase Hand Thrown Pottery Shibui Tokonoma Tea CeremonyWe purchased this signed Japanese hanging pottery vase from a NY City antique shop specializing in Oriental antiquities about 40 years ago. It is a primitive hand thrown piece embodying the subtle Eastern aesthetic of shibui which accepted all the imperfections of the potter, the materials, and the fate of the firing process. As such, this vase is imperfect by Western standards, but it has been well cared for and is still in very good condition. It is 7.25" long x about 3.25" in diameter at the widest. The cord was on it when we bought it 40 years ago.
