Waterman Taperite Crusader Fountain Pen Burgundy Aluminum Cap Gold Nib 1947 Vtg
Here is a vintage (circa 1947) Waterman's Taperite Crusader lever filled fountain pen.
It has a burgundy color plastic body (that Waterman called red) - has some scratches as would be expected from use.
Silver anodized aluminum cap (which Waterman called Lumalloy) - shows some scratches as would be expected with use.
The nib is gold in color with no marks that I can see - according to online info from pen experts, all were fitted with a 14K gold nib - this one is slightly bent at the tip.
Pocket clip is marked Watermans
Body is impressed: Waterman's Made in U.S.A.
Silver colored metal ring separating the 2 body parts doesn't fit tightly and detaches fairly easily when the body is taken apart.
Bladder is flexible and soft. I don't see any rips or holes.
It measures 5" long.
Purchased from an estate sale. It has been used but not abused.
We have not tried to use it or fill it with ink. It is in good visual condition with above mentioned exceptions.
