Mythical Merlion Wine Carafe Bottle Singapore Icon Souvenir Fish Body Lion Head

Here is a figural wine bottle carafe in the shape of Singapore's iconic Merlion, a mythical creature with the body of a fish and the head of a lion. It is an exact replica of the 8.6 meter, 70 ton statue of the Merlion in Merlion Park. We purchased it from a woman who brought it back from her trip to Singapore. It was originally filled with wine. It measures 10-3/8 inches high. The base measures 6 x 3-1/2 inches. A protective strip of dense foam (in place of cork) is fitted inside the lid allowing it to fit snugly against the bottle. It is in excellent condition. A great looking magical beast to use as a decanter for wine or other beverages or to display in your home bar or just a unique decorative sculpture.

A little info From Wikipedia: The fish body represents Singapore's origin as a fishing village when it was called Temasek, which means "sea town" in Javanese. The lion head represents Singapore's original name, Singapura, in Sanskrit, meaning "lion city" The Merlion, Singapore's mascot, was designed in 1964. There are 5 authorized statues of the Merlion in Singapore, the best known in Merlion Park was designed by Kwan Sai Kheong and sculpted by Lim Nang Seng.
