Singer Sewing 1905 Washington DC 10 Trade Cards Soldiers Home State War Navy Bld

Here is an antique, circa 1905, advertising souvenir packet of trade cards from Singer Sewing Machine. This is a complete set of 10 trade cards showing views of buildings, monuments, and street scenes in Washington, D.C. along with a description and some history on the back plus Singer advertising, all in the original graphic envelope which shows the White House. The cards measure 7-1/8" x 4-1/4". The envelope is worn with small tears on edges, age browning and missing its closure flap but the cards are in excellent condition. A great slice of history. They are as follows:

  • The Soldiers' Home
  • The State, War and Navy Building (now called The Eisenhower Executive Office Building-EEOB)
  • Pennsylvania Avenue from 15th Street at the Treasury with trolleys & horse drawn carriages
  • The Capitol
  • The Treasury Department
  • The Library of Congress
  • The Smithsonian Instutution
  • The National Museum
  • The Peace Monument (The Naval Monument) in memory of officers, seamen, and marines of the United States Navy "who fell in defense of the Union and Liberty of the Country, 1861-'65" during the Civil War.
  • The Washington Monument
