SINGER Sewing 1906 New York 10 Trade Cards Manhattan Bridge Ship Canal Navy Yard

Here is an antique circa 1906 advertising souvenir packet of trade cards from Singer Sewing Machine. This is a complete set of 10 trade cards showing views of New York City's various Waterfronts: bridges, canal, Navy Yard, skylines, along with a description and some history on the back plus Singer advertising, all in the original graphic envelope which I believe shows the Williamsburg Bridge. Some pictures are from photos, some from engravings or drawings. The cards measure 7-1/8" x 4-1/4". The envelope is worn, almost torn in half (front from back), and missing its closure flap but the cards are in excellent condition. A great slice of history. Single trade cards from this set have been selling for $18 to $30 on ebay. They are as follows:

  • The Manhattan Bridge under construction (signed Richard Rummell) (copyright 1904 by Moses King)
  • (A) Williamsburg Bridge Blackwell's Island Bridge as it will appear when completed - only the masonry of 6 piers had been completed at this writing - tiny tear right side edge
  • Lower Manhattan - aerial view showing the Business Center of Greater New York - including Battery Park (The Battery), Castle Garden Aquarium, the Barge Office, slips for ferry boats and coastwise steamships, docks on East River occupied by sailing vessels. (copyright 1903 and 1906 by Moses King N.Y. signed R. W. Rummel)
  • The Harlem River Ship Canal at Spuyten Duyvil Creek (North End of New York)
  • East River Skyline of Manhattan and the Bridges (2 views) (Photos Copyright by Irving Underhill)
  • The Palisades of the Hudson from Old Port Tryon
  • A Typical Atlantic Liner - Steamship Deutschland (Copyright 1904 by Irving Underhill)
  • (A) High Bridge (B) Washington Bridge and Speedway (both views Copyright by Irving Underhill) 2 bridges over the Harlem River. The Speedway affords a drive of nearly four miles for fast horses. Wagons or Bicycles are not permitted upon it.
  • U.S. Navy Yard on Wallabout Bay, Brooklyn with ships (A) Looking East (B) Looking West (copyright 1903 (A) and 1905 (B) by Enrique Muller)
  • North River Skyline of Manhattan (from Jersey City) 2 views (A) Battery to Cortland Street (B)Cortland Street to Leonard Street - showing the new Whitehall building, Battery Park, the Washington building and Bowling Green offices, Standard Oil, Manhattan Life and Empire buildings, Trinity Church and the American Surety Company, and Park Row building, the highest occupied building in the world (copyright 1904 by Irving Underhill)
