Majolica Stoneware Toby Style Jug Pitcher Kitchenware
Here's a large stoneware Toby style pitcher with a majolica glaze in colors normally associated with Chinese pottery made in the Tang Dynasty. Although we bought it from an estate sale about 10 years ago, I believe it was probably made sometime in the last 20 years. It's 8.25" high and in extremely good condition. No chips, cracks or repairs. The interior is mostly unglazed. Being stoneware, a fully vitrified clay body, it should be able to hold liquid and not leak even without a glaze. I left it filled with water overnight to be certain and it does not leak. I think the previous owner used it as a vase as it had a lot of leaf debris in the bottom when I bought it. I've washed it, but you might want to run it through the dishwasher if you plan to serve with it. I've had it stored away for a long time.
