Satsuma Pr Mini Vases Takito 1930s Hand Painted Moriage Luster Goddess of Mercy
This pair of miniature Japanese vases were made in the late 1920's-early 1930's by the Takito Company. They are marked with the double T in diamonds logo from that time period. They are hand painted, decorated with the moriage and gold luster technique that the company was known for. One side of each features Kannon, the Goddess of Mercy as she is called in English (an immortal known to Buddhists as Guanyin Bodhisattva). Beaded animal-like lugs on shoulders have gold luster heads. These disc shaped vases are 3" high x almost 3" wide x 1" front to back. Tiny chip in black rim of one vase. Slight wear to luster. Very good condition otherwise.
