Ralph Dunkelberger Print Quilting Party Listed PA Artist

Here is a vintage framed print by listed Pennsylvania artist Ralph Dunkelberger. It is titled and signed in pencil below the print in the center. The title is The Quilting Party. It's interesting and unusual subject matter that portrays 4 probably Ammish women working on a large quilt with tea being served by a 5th woman. Children in the background watching. Great turn of the century period interior scene with fireplace, mantel clock, hutch and family Bible on side table. Area of print showing in frame window measures 8.25" high x 10.5" wide. Frame measures 15.5" x 18". It is double matted thus keeping the print from touching the glass. There are a couple of browish dots of foxing on the print and a couple of spots of wear on the edges of the frame but it's in very good condition otherwise. Purchased from an estate sale.

Online research states that Ralph Dunkelberger was born in Reading, Pa. in 1894. He studied at the Pennsylvania School of Industrial Art with Christopher Shearer and Thorton Oakley. He was an illustrator for Harper's Weekly's serial Ben Hur by Lewis Wallace. He also did full-size wall murals.
