Bone Button Hook Celluloid Baby Comb & Mirror vintageHere are 3 vintage vanity items. - The oldest is a small Victorian era bone handled button hook, possibly a child's. It's 2-7/8" long. Long reddish brown mark on one side of handle might be a stain or a marking in the bone... I can't really tell which.
- The 2nd is a celluloid double sided baby's comb with hand painted flowers, circa 1930's. It's marked: England and is 4.5" long. It's in very good condition.
- The 3rd is a heart shaped mirror for the handbag or purse. It's a pearlized ivory colored celluloid (like Lea Stein's jewels or 1930's cloths hamper lids) with incised black lines and black rhinestones. There are 2 hearts that swivel open on a rivet hinge to show the mirror inside. Both hearts have warped slightly and curve away from each other with about an 1/8" gap at the edge farthest from the rivet. Light scratches on celluloid and mirror but it still looks real good.
All of these items have been purchased over the past 25 years at various estate sales.

Bottle- Max Factor Hollywood Odd Saturn Bottle VanityUnusual vintage World of Beauty, Saturn shaped lotion bottle from Max Factor of Hollywood is still full of lotion. I haven't opened it. It appears to be sealed. I can't tell if the bottle or the lotion is green. There's some variation in the green on the top, but think it might be where lotion is stuck to the inside top of the bottle. The bottle (plastic) pivots on the pale pink Saturn ring to open the bottle. A paper label on the bottom gives instructions on how to do it. Big letters around the ring identify the maker and the contents... also says PAT PEND in small letters at the bottom. It's just a great looking piece... very different. I've had it displayed with my collection of perfume bottles and vanity items for over 20 years and it always gets a lot of comments!

Purse 1930's Beaded Evening Bag Purse Carnival Beads VintageThis great looking beaded evening bag was handmade circa the 1920's or 30's. It's pouch purse style with long fringe is reminiscent of the flapper era. The beads are irridescent carnival glass which sparkles and appears to change color as they move... dark blue, light blue, green, purple, magenta, and coppery rose. The beads are all crocheted or woven into place (you can see the pattern on the interior). There appears to be one fringe loop that has broken... you can see the remnant of thread to indicate that. It could be repaired with a new bead loop or the thread knotted inside where it couldn't be seen. It wouldn't be that noticeable that it's missing. When I purchased the bag from an estate sale about 25 years ago, it didn't have a drawstring... just the metal loops where someone had intending to put it. I added the purple ribbon so I could hang it for display. The bag measures 8.5" long x 5.5" at the widest. It's in very good condition with exceptions noted.

Purse Beaded Bag Tortoise Celluloid Round Frame Chain VintageThis vintage beaded bag is made of blue carnival glass beads and a circular faux tortoise frame and chain. It was gorgeous once but age has taken its toll, threads have broken and beads have been lost. I thought maybe I'd repair it some day... but I haven't. You might like to repair it, or use the beads for something else, or make your own bag using the frame. The frame is translucent celluloid made to look like tortoise. It has a neat ball clasp on a pivot that fits into a notch in the lid. The chain is made in the typical way with links that are melt fused together. Chain is about 15" long. The frame is 3-3/8" in diameter and 1/2" high with openings to sew the bag to. There's a mirror mounted on the inside of the lid. The silvering has crackled and some has come away from the glass. The hinge is in good condition with no oxidation. Length of bag from tassel to top of lug on frame is 10.5". Purchased from an estate sale many years ago. Maria

Ring Holder 2 Hand Items 9" Life Size Sculpture & Heart Ring HolderHere are 2 different hand items. Both are made of pottery or china. One is a life sized pottery sculpture of a hand, possibly made from a mold taken from someone's hand. It's finished in a white crackle glaze. 8.75" high. In excellent condition.
The second is a ring holder trinket tray. The tray is heart shaped with a hand in the center. The tray is glazed with colorful flowers. The fingernails are glazed in matching leaf green. There's a visible line where the hand was attached to the heart tray some of which didn't fill with glaze. It's in excellent condition. Both items were purchased from estate sales so were previously owned but I believe they are of fairly recent vintage.

Tray- EAPG Vintage Vanity DAISY and BUTTON Pin TrayPretty little oblong tray with interestingly shaped handles/sides in the early American pressed glass pattern called Daisy and Button, or Button and Daisy, is in excellent condition. Don't know the exact function it was made to serve, but it would make a lovely pin or trinket tray for the bureau or vanity. Maybe it was meant to serve something very important, in small amounts... like fudge :-) 7" x 3-1/4" x 1-1/4"

Tray Peach Celluloid Perfume Bottle Vanity Tray 30's VintageBeautiful vintage celluloid tray is peach or salmon colored with yellow marbling and impressed gold flowers and leaves. I bought it about 25 years ago from an estate sale. It has been in my collection of wonderful vintage plastic (bakelite, catalin, celluloid, etc) items ever since. I thought it must be a vanity tray for perfume bottles, etc. but it could be a trinket tray for the bureau or might have been a desk piece for pens, clips, stamps, etc. I think there's something inside to give it weight. 6.25" x 4.25". A few signs of wear, mostly light scratches on the underside as would be expected. It's in very good condition otherwise.
