Picture1 Elephant 50s Vintage Battery Operated Toy Works Lights

Here's a neat 1950's era battery operated toy... a drummer elephant. Online resources say his name is Mambo. He is in working order. He drums... and you can hear it, not just see the action... he hits the drums and cybol with his sticks. There's lots of action! His eyes light up, his head moves, his trunk moves, his arms move and his foot moves to hit the bass drum. Multiple parts are made differently... body is a furry material (probably mohair) over metal understructure and workings, felt hat & tongue, glass eyes, tin litho base and drum set, skins in base drum are plastic coated paper. Jingle bell at end of trunk. Battery compartment is clean. A cymbol on a floor mounted pole is missing. Tear in paper on back of base drum. His right eye is the original glass eye light bulb. His left appears to have been replaced long ago with a tiny light bulb that someone has painted black in an attempt to match the other one. He's 8.75" high, 8" front to back, 4.75" side to side. A great vintage toy in very good condition with exceptions noted above. His fur is in great shape... no rips or tears, and the metal is in very good condition too... no rust or fading... still bright and fun to look at.

PictureCharacter 3 Toys 1940's Pluto Friction-Pull Duck on Rocket-Cannon

Here are three 1940's plastic toys:

  • Yellow crouching Pluto is a friction toy. The friction gear works but the wheels spin without engaging the friction part. Some closs of painted red and black color. 4.25" long.
  • Pink duck (is it Donald?) on a rocket is a pull toy... or use the pull loop to hang him from the Christmas tree. He's wearing a sailor's cap and an ascot. Stationary front wheel. Rear turning wheels and axle are missing. May be an easy repair if you have some old cars with this type of snap in axle that you could use for parts. A little color loss to green paint. Some extra dots of black near one eye. Some minor wear to non-turning wheel. About 4.25" long.
  • Blue cannon probably from a pirate ship has 2 wheels and is in good condition... but I think something might be missing in the front under the gun barrel where there are 2 little pegs. About 4.75" long.

All were purchased from the same estate sale.

The bear is plastic with metal undercarriage and battery compartment; rubber and plastic wheels. On/Off switch. We tried him with new batteries but he is not working.
