This vintage circular slide rule is a Photo-Engraving Proportion Scale for finding the dimension for an engraving to be made smaller or larger than the copy. It was an advertising item from Philadelphia Blue Print Company, located at 725 Chestnut Street and 1520-22 Sansom Street. They advertise: Jumbostats, Photostats, Blue Prints, Drawing Material and Artist's Supplies. Old style phone numbers: LOMbard 7044 - 7045 - 7046 and RITtenhouse 3297 - 3298. 5" in diameter. A few spots of light wear at outside edge. In very good condition otherwise. This belonged to my Dad who was an architectural engineer for RCA until the early 70's.

This group of 7 machinist measuring tools were purchased as a lot from an estate sale along with a catalog type brochure showing various tools that Starrett made. Back of catalog is marked: L.S. Starrett Company, Athol, Mass., U.S.A. Bulletin No. 110 Issue 1, 1-1-50. Many vintage catalogs, maps, brochures, etc. were marked with similar numbers to indicate date of printing... so this must have been the new brochure for 1950. 4-1/4" x 2-5/8" unfolding to 20-3/4" long. Smells oily but is in very good condition.

Vintage Dietzgen Polymath Slide Rule is Catalog Number 1733, Decimal Trig Type Log Log Rule. Dark wood with white veneered surface. Patent numbers: 2,170,144 (1939) and 2,285,722 (1942). Chip at edge of sliding glass on one side. In extremely good condition otherwise. Comes in sturdy Dietzgen leather case which has original owner's name lettered inside flap and professionally impressed on outside. It's in very good condition. Antique Sandusky Tool Company 1-1/4" wood molding or dado plane measures 9-3/8" long x 5-5/8" to top of wedge x 1-1/4" at the widest point. Impressed marks in the wood on one end are: Sandusky Tool Co. Ohio banner mark and the number 146. The other end is impressed: 1-1/4. Nail holes along bottom side edges, more on left side than right (from previously attached guides?) and darker stain on right side. Shows signs of age and use but still a nice old tool.

Here's an old printer's block, a half tone plate, with a picture of 3 people in front of what appears to be the Capitol Building in Washington DC. There are 2 men, one on either side of a woman with a hat typical of the ones worn by Eleanor Roosevelt. The block is 2.25" x 1-5/8" x 7/8" thick. The plate is 1-3/8" high x 1-15/16" wide. Loss of detail to tallest man's face. It's in good condition otherwise. Purchased from an estate sale.

Here's an old adjustable vise which holds metal type dies for making rubber stamps. Liquid rubber is poured into the back area to make rubber stamps of various letter combinations. 14 letters are in there with one space. 10" long. No makers marks. One corner reads: Clean in gasoline weekly. There's an official name for this tool, but I've forgotten it. Purchased from an estate sale.

This vintage Staedtler Mars 700 Technical Pen Set belonged to my Dad who was an architectural engineer for RCA until the early 70's. There are 4 pens, ink cartridge with ink plus instruction and information sheet all in the original box which looks like it also doubles as a stand. The pens are not all the same numbers as on the box... they are light green 1.4 mm (5), dark green .45 (1), black 1.0 (3-1/2), and dark gray 2.0 (6)... (I can't unscrew the cap from this one). Everything appears to be in very good condition otherwise.

We believe this primative tool to be a sling psychrometer for measuring the dew point. Wet cotton or cloth is placed in base receptacle. Slinging the entire apparatus will cause the water to evaporate, cooling the thermometer and giving a lower reading. This can be compared to a stationary thermometer for calculating the dew point or temperature at which it will rain. Marked: C.J. Tagliabue Mfg. Co. B'klyn N.Y. Made in U.S.A. Mercury thermometer. Metal side indicators with temperature readings in Fahrenheit. Metal receptacle at base of thermometer inside wooden mount with hole in bottom to place wet cloth or cotton. 10-1/4" long. Thermometer is in good condition. 4 tiny screws are missing... 2 on bottom receptacle and 2 on metal side pieces with temperature lines. A few spots of ancient white paint on wood. There's a wonderful look to the wood which shows great age and is worn along the grain lines from years of use.

Here is an early Thor electric drill with a Jacobs chuck. It has an unusual On/Off mechanism. Instead of a trigger there are 2 push buttons. Push in large button at top of handle grip will turn it on. Smaller push button to the left of the handle turns it off, popping the On button out. It is in working condition. Chuck taped to cord. 11" long x 5.5" high at handle. The word Thor in script on side is worn but legible. Number above is: UKG 6 3 4 3 3
