Kit- Girl w/Red Thimble Hat Figural Sewing Kit OldVintage purse sized figural sewing kit is a cute little girl? with a tall red thimble hat. Inside holds 3 tiny spools of thread all connected and a needle. The girl has only one eye. Don't know if she's supposed to be winking or if one eye has worn away with years of use. That, and the thimble hat, which is almost as tall as she is, gives her a very whimsical look. The threads of the screw on hat only grab for a small area at the end of the wind. Sometimes it stays and sometimes it doesn't. You need to let the tail end of the thread stick out of the thimble so the threads will grab and keep the hat on. That's how it was when I got it... and that's probably why. If she's going to stand on a shelf with a collection, it won't matter, but you might not want her to rattle around in your purse. In good condition otherwise.

Pin Cushion- Big LADY HEAD -Sewing-Hat Pin-Vintage VanityWonderful vintage lady head pin cushion has 4 plain 1940's vintage hat pins stuck in her cushion. There are only a handful of old pin marks plus these 4 old hat pins (2 shanks are rusting) possibly indicating that, being so pretty, she may have been used on the vanity or dressing table for hat pins instead of for straight pins and sewing. I'm not quite sure what her head is made of... could be paper mache with a chalk coating, or chalk, or a painted bisque ceramic. The base is some type of stuffed cloth with drawstring tie at top. Her face is hand painted with a sideways glancing expression. She has blonde, old doll wig type, hair glued to her head. The surface of her face has reacted to something, maybe moisture, over the years and there are lots of little raised dots on her face, especially the right side, as can be seen in the photos. She's in good condition otherwise and is a neat old piece to display with sewing or vanity collections. 7.75" high x approximate 4.5" diameter at base.

PIN CUSHION - Fancy Edwardian Shoe Wooden PIN CUSHION Sewing AntiqueWonderful old figural pin cushion takes the form of a lady's fancy shoe. Was this the Edwardian era when they wore such exaggerated pointed shoes, powdered wigs, low cut necklines, etc? It's made of carved and painted wood. Cushion area is sturdy with a heavy muslin cloth but not much left of the silky brown covering material. Braided twisted cording around the cushion. Three pearls in front. 3 holes down the each side front indicate buckles, fasteners, or ties that are now missing. Paint is crackling off. Wear on heel edge. It's still a great looking and unusual piece for your vintage sewing (or shoe) collection. Originally purchased at an estate sale. I've had it in my collection for about 25 years. 4" long x 3" high.
