PictureAdmiral Vintage Black Bakelite Tube Radio 5R11-N Works!

Here is an old Admiral table top tube radio, model 5R11-N in a black bakelite case. It is working! Paper label on bottom gives a schematic with tube numbers; cardboard back has the same information. It has an Admiral Super Aeroscope Built-In Antenna. 6.5" high x 10.5" wide x 5.5" deep. There are 4 tiny pin head sized digs along top front edge and a tiny ciplet at the bottom corner on the grill side but they are miniscule. The case is really doesn't really show much use or wear... there are hardly any scratches and they are very light. It's been very well cared for and it is in very good condition. PictureBook Ghirardi Radio Servicing Classic Repair Book 1935 HB DJ

Modern Radio Servicing by Alfred A Ghirardi is a 1930's classic... a practical guide for the radio repairman. It's a "self-study training course in practical repair of all types of home and vehicular radio receivers (car and boat)... explanation of radio test instruments, troubleshooting procedure, circuit analysis, testing and repair of all component parts of radio equipment, installation, adjustments and maintenance."

  • Hardback with dust jacket (dust jacket has interesting testimonials from radio repairmen who were happy buyers of this book for the original price of $5.00)
  • First Edition (stated) 1935
  • 1318 pages
  • over 700 helpful illustrations plus charts and diagrams (check out sampling of photos taken from the book)
  • Publisher: Technical Division of Murray Hill Books Inc.
  • Table of Contents and Index

Dust jacket is worn with small tears on edges and dirt from hands at folds. All pages seem to be intact. I didn't see any tears or writing or dirty hand marks on the pages inside. Binding is solid. I would say it's in very good condition. Probably a great item for those of you who are restoring and repairing some of those beautiful old radios.

PictureCampbell's Soup Can AM Transistor Radio w Box Vintage

Here is a vintage figural AM transistor radio in the shape of a can of Campbell's Tomato Soup... one of Andy Warhol's pop art images... and the reason we purchased it... to display next to his signature watch with the same image which we have offered for sale in another of auctions this week. The radio looks almost new. It's real clean inside, takes a snap in 9V battery. We tested it but it does not work. We bought it from an estate sale in the original box which had a piece of gift paper glued over the top of the box with their price tag. I removed the paper to see the box in it's original condition but underneath found a one dollar price and a lot of scribbling on the top in black marker but the rest of it looks good. The radio looks great if you want it for display only or maybe you can figure out what is wrong and fix it.

PictureDeco Tele-King White Bakelite Tube Radio w Alarm Clock

This early 1950's Tele-King table top tube radio with Art Deco styling is in good working condition! It also has an accurately working clock with radio alarm and slumber features. Outlet for lamp on back. Pressed white bakelite housing. Molded plastic clock front with white Deco numerals. Gold face, knobs, Tele-King lettering. Radio control knobs on side are white with black lettering. The case has several small cracks on the back along outer edges of heat vents and a very fine, short crack at top right front corner coming from clock face point which probably won't show up in the photos and doesn't take anything away from the great styling. The rest of the case is smooth, shiny and lusterous. The alarm knob doesn't fit as snug as it should but the metal alarm rod under it turns as it should so it just needs a key or a wedge to make the knob fit tighter. White cloth grill, cord and electrical plug are in very good condition. 6-1/8" high x 7.5" wide at bottom edge not including the knobs on side x 5" deep. In very good condition with exceptions noted. It's a great looking radio!

PictureGE Tube Clock Radio Red 1950's Vintage General Electric

Great looking 1950's vintage clock radio uses tubes and has a schematic underneath showing tube location and number. It is in working order! The radio works. The clock works. The alarm works. A little of the paper underneath is torn so I can't read the entire model number... the beginning is 548P... GE calls it a "Radio Alarm Clock. It has a phono jack in the back so you could plug your record player into it. Also on back is an enclosed antenna and the knob to set the time.

Left knob controls radio or phono. Right knob is the tuner. On/Off Wake/Manual, alarm set, snooze for an hour, are all small knobs on the clock face. Beautiful color combination... red plastic case with gold face, black alarm dial, ivory white knobs and numbers with black outlines. The red is a nice bright color... not fire engine red... it's more toward the burgundy side, but not as purple or dark as maroon. 6" x 6" x 12". Visual condition: there are some light scratches, a brushed abrasion, and an inch long line of glue or melt in surface on top of the radio. There's a chip at top edge of one ridge in the right grill panel. Indented ridges in knobs are dark and might need cleaning. It's in good condition otherwise. Purchased from an estate sale.

Neat old 1927 booklet from the Newark (NJ) Evening News is called Radio Guide and Log. Front cover advises "Tune in the World" with the Newark Evening News. It contains listings of all radio stations arranged in several ways: alphabetically by their call letters and also by location, divided into sections according to US state names and country names. It also includes a list of US stations arranged numerically by wavelength and frequency in kilocycles. Also included are some short articles: Getting the Most out of Radio, Did You Know That.........., A Cartoonist Looks at Radio, Radioly Speaking, and also advertising for the Evening News. 80 pages. 8" x 5-3/8". Cover is worn, torn and possibly burned along stapled spine. Cover is stained and written on. Inside front cover and first 2 pages have former owner's penciled notes about more radio stations. Pages 35 through the back cover have missing paper where the thumb would be when leafing through the booklet. Paper has darkened around the worn/torn thumb spots and almost looks burned. While in worn and used condition, the information on all pages is still intact and legible. It's stilll a great little item with useful information for the historian and radio buff.
