FREDERIC MIZEN-Native American Print-INDIAN CHANT-1953- Framed-Atchison Topeka Santa Fe Railroad-Calendar ArtThis item is for a nicely framed vintage print with a Native American subject by Frederic Mizen. The print is vintage reproduction of one of his paintings. His paintings belong to a group that were purchased over the years, beginning in 1903, by the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad and reproduced for their advertising purposes. In 1907, they began to use the images on their yearly calendars to promote tourism to the Southwest. The ATS&F, now called Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, has continued to acquire such original artworks and presently owns one of the largest collections of art depicting images of the Southwest. The vintage calendars are collected by railroad enthusiasts. The print we're offering here, Indian Chant, was used on the 1953 calendar. This print may be from the original calendar... I don't know. It was purchased at an estate sale, along with "Navajo Shepherdess" from 1954, which we are offering in another of our auctions this week. They are both framed in these wonderful wormwood frames which certainly enhance the rustic Western look. Sealed on the back with brown paper. 11-1/2" x 13-1/8" Screw eyes with picture wire on back for hanging. Indian Chant has some white marks or scratches on the print vertically on right side near the frame. All else is in very good condition. 35s10

Sailing Ship 4 Lrg John O'Hara Cosgrave Sailing Ship Prints VintageHere is a vintage portfolio of 4 sailing ship prints by artist, John O'Hara Cosgrave II, printed by Penn Prints of New York. The image size is 12 inches x 16 inches. The paper size is 14-3/8 inches x 18 inches. They are entitled:
- Ship Sloop Wasp, 1812
- Brigantine Prince De Neufchatel, 1812
- Fore and Main Topsail Schooner Rattlesnake, 1780
- Square Topsail Sloop Fox, 1780
They are still in the original paper cover folder which is stained. Top corners are very slightly curved upwards from storage. The second one, Brigantine Prince, once had a piece of tape at the top center which has left a small square area of surface loss to the paper but it is not in the picture area which would be covered by a mat if you were to frame it. The prints are all in very good conditition otherwise and suitable for framing. Purchased from an estate sale.

Vintage 20's Print Cottage Canal similar R Atkinson FoxBeautiful 1920's vintage landscape print is marked with only the title Green To Gold at bottom center. There is no signature or printer's mark showing. I haven't tried to remove it from the frame to see what might be below the frame. The subject matter, with the winding canal and lane of trees, style, and title seem similar to some paintings/prints by R Atkinson Fox. We welcome all information from anyone who might have information about who the artist might be. The frame is also an older style, probably original to this print, as there are remnants of the old brown paper backing, mostly in one corner. This could easily be replaced if so desired. The frame was painted gold long ago by a previous owner. There is some rippling to the print. In very good condition otherwise. 15.5" high x 25.5" long. Purchased from an estate sale.
