Here are 2 solid perfume compacts.

• The scallop shell is shiny goldtone metal. 1.5" x 1.25". There is no perfume left inside but the fragrance lingers on. In very good condition.
• Leaf with painted enamel red bug is cast white metal with gold color finish. 2" x 1.5". It's worn a bit on lid where it looks a bit silvery. Stem of leaf is bent upward on bottom section. No perfume left inside. Interior has some darkening and a bit of white oxidation around the hinge. In good vintage condition with exceptions noted.

Both were purchased from estate sales many years ago. Neither have makers marks or labels to identify them.

Here are two 1940's vintage cardboard boxes with great looking graphics from my collection. They were purchased many years ago from estate sales.

• The smaller one once held a bottle of perfume called LaCherte' which Babelfish translates as Dearness. It shows a woman dancing onstage in the limelight. Side of box is marked: Hollywood Marvel Products Co. Hollywood, California. It measures 3-1/8" x 2" x 13/16" high. Slight wear to gold on edges and black on underside. There is a pin hole in the bottom section where I had it thumb tacked to the wall. It's in good condition otherwise.
• The lid of the larger box shows 3 costumed people who I believe to be the classic tragedy figures of Pierrot, Harlequin and Columbine, in a magical opening in the forest surrounded by butterflies... behind them a golden moon and sprinkling of stars. The box measures 9.75" x 7" x 7/8" high. It may have held stockings or stationery. Underside has a small label that reads in part: Bush & Bull Co. Three of the top corners show wear and there's a small dent dig with a tear on the top side edge. Tan stains in white area of left side butterfly wings. Water stain and shelf dirt on underside. There is a pin hole in the bottom section where I had it thumb tacked to the wall. It's in good condition otherwise. It's a great looking box... someone may even recognize the illustrative style and be able to identify the artist.

Here are two 1940's vintage April Showers vanity items from Cheramy... a perfume bottle and a powder tin, both empty. Both were purchased from estate sales many years ago. They have been in my collection since then.

• The perfume bottle is pressed glass with raised garden trellis/lattice design. Raised letters in bottom of glass say CHERAMY Paris New York. Original paper label has a pale tan perfume stain. Green bakelite lid is divided into petal-like segments. 4" high. Remnant of fragrance remains in the bottle. In very good vintage condition. No chips, cracks or repairs.
• The dusting powder tin reads: Poudre de Toilette April Showers Cheramy Paris New York. 2-5/8" high x 4.25" diameter. The pretty graphics are similar to the perfume bottle design and label with squared garden trellis and pink flowers. It shows some wear to surface color in a few spots, a couple of small rusty spots... most noticeable is one on the top edge of lid, but it's still a very pretty tin.

Here's a pretty perfume bottle, probably made sometime between the late 1940's through the 1950's. It's cranberry flashed and then cut to the clear with a leaf and berry design. Remnant of vintage labels are still legible: Holmspray Western Germany. 4.25" high. Gold lustre banding is still in very good condition. Metal cap shows some variation in the plating or to the sealer finish on top of the plating. Tiny dots of cranberry loss can be seen as clear around the top edge. There is no atomizer ball. All else is in very good condition. Purchased from an estate sale.

1940's vintage perfume bottle atomizer is flashed cranberry glass. It measures 3.75" high x 3.25" in diameter. Glass tube inside is intact. Bulb is missing having become petrified over the years as is often the case but they can be found from internet sources if so desired. Gold colored plating on the metal top parts has ever so slight wear at edge but is in very good condition. The entire metal piece unscrews from the bottle easily. This pretty 1940's vintage glass perfume bottle is 8 sided with a hand cut starburst and ball design repeated in each of the 8 panels. When you look through it, the heavy faceted sides make a series of reflections and/or optical illusions along with the cut patterns that you can see from the front and back. It looks neat! It's 5" high. The base has been ground but not perfectly flat or even so I don't know if that was an old repair or just how it was made. There is no atomizer ball but they are much easier to find now than they were 20 years ago when I bought this bottle. The lid is firmly attached to the bottle as it should be. The center of it unscrews and lifts out along with the atomizer top and metal tube that goes into the bottle. This is how you fill it. You probably know that but I've seen bottle tops destroyed by people using pliers to try to get the top off when it isn't supposed to come off. It's really in pretty good condition but there are 2 miniscule flea bites on side edges and very pale white marks inside at the bottom. The base has about 7 very tiny flea bites (pinhead size or smaller) and one a bit larger at 1/16". It still looks good and would be very pretty on your dresser or in a collection of vanity bottles.

Vintage, probably circa 1950's, DeVilbiss perfume bottle is hand blown gold crackle glass with jewel top and 2 original paper labels on the underside. One reads: DeVilbiss Gold Plate 595-13 Made in U.S.A. and the other reads: Hand-Blown Glass. 3-1/2" high x 3-7/8" wide at base. The atomizer ball needs to be replaced... there is none. The bottle has been used. Both glass and gold color metal plating are in excellent condition.

Here is Estee Lauder's So Ingenious loose powder, new and never opened in the original clear & satin finish compact box with new puff. Slight blemish in the satiny finish in one corner where the original price tag had been. It's in excellent visual condition otherwise and contents are mint. This "British Bobby" figural perfume bottle was probably made in the 1940's. Most of an original red paper label remains on the underside: Guaranteed Made, Bottled and Packaged in France. The letter F can be seen at the edge of the label in raised letters in the glass. The rest of the word FRANCE is probably under the label. Big hat/helmet, big belly, big boots, and a nightstick. 3-3/4" high. Blue plastic lid. Rubber button on inside of lid has come detached and is in the bottom of the bottle. In very good condition. Incredible rare 1940's perfume bottle is a metal clad glass bottle in the shape of a golden Buddha. The perfume, made by Norman of Paris was called Adoration. The metal head lifts off to reveal the glass stopper which has been stuck in the bottle since I purchased it at an estate sale over 25 years ago. I actually purchased 2 identical bottles... must have been a favorite fragrance of the lady who once owned them. I sold one back then at Renninger's Extravaganza and kept this one for my own collection. The bottle is 7.25" high. 4-7/8" x 2.75" at the base. Base is marked on back in raised letters in the metal: NORMAN-PARIS MADE IN FRANCE. Front of bottle is marked in raised letters in the metal: ADORATION. The bottle is in excellent condition.

An almost identical bottle to this one is shown on page 150 of the first North commercial perfume bottle book. The differences are that the bottle shown in the book is silver, the fragrance is Saree and the maker was Rodin. The description of the bottles is the same. It's interesting to note that in my bottle the name of the perfume was shaped into the bottle. The Saree bottle appears to have a name plated attached to the bottle with 2 fasteners at each end of the label. I've never been able to find any information about this company and have never seen this bottle for sale anywhere else in all my years of bottle hunting. I believe it is quite rare. Don't miss this oppportunity! I would make somebody special a wonderful gift!

Here are 2 vintage Evyan heart shaped miniature perfume cologne bottles from the 1940's - 1950's era. One is White Shoulders; the other is Great Lady. They both measure 2-3/8" high x 1.75 wide. White Shoulders has a little perfume left inside. Great Lady is more than half full. Both have wear to the paper labels... White Shoulders has some paper loss around the edges; Great Lady is hard to read unless held sideways so you can see the embossing or with a magnifier... but the bottles are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Both were purchased from an estate sale about 25 years ago. They have been in my collection since then.

Here's a 1930's-40's era souvenir... a perfume vial with original gold foil label is wired to the neck of a rare blue headed bird whose body is a large nut from a tropical paradise. Coral colored ribbon disguises the wire. Three carved areas in the brown surface of the nut create contrasting light colored wings and belly. Blue painted base matches bird's head. Painted red eyes. One is rectangular glass with scalloped ridges, brass base and brass covered cap with matching ridges. It has a gray suede slip case which is embossed with gold Worth on one side. Base is marked: Made in France Je Reviens Worth Paris France 1/4 Fl Oz. Very good condition. It has been in my collection for about 25 years.

The other is a blue glass bottle with metal cap. Marked in the glass on base: Made France Lalique. Side is marked Worth Je Reviens in white lettering. The bottle is about half full. Here are 3 Lalique Eau De Toilette miniature perfume bottles with leaf designs on bottle and moon shaped stopper. Fantastic Early Goebel Orange Dog Perfume Lamp is made of translucent porcelain and has wonderful glass eyes. Both the dog and his eyes have a warm, magical glow when the light is turned on. He has a circle of holes in the top of his head for the heat of the bulb to escape so that he won't crack. There is a small reservoir on the back of his neck where perfume was placed. The heat of the lamp warmed the perfume and gently spread the desired fragrance into the air. Perfume lamps were popular in the 20's and 30's and came in many shapes and sizes... a forerunner of the air freshener, but infinitely more romantic! This little creature measures 4-1/2" high, 4" at the widest point and 5-1/4" from front to back. The marks on one foot are the broad incised crown, ST256 is incised under the crown and the letter B. is handwritten in black underglaze stain. Dep. is incised on the other foot. Germany is stamped in black stain near that, on the edge. All of the marks can be seen in the photos. The light works. The socket is held in place inside with a little metal arm that goes through the body and is fastened on the outside with a little white knob. The cord has an old style, blimp shaped, in-line bakelite switch. There are a few little flakes in the orange glaze on his right hind thigh (these can be seen in the photos - bottom area is the flakes, top area is reflected light in the photo), one at the base near that and a tiny one at his front right elbow. There is a manufacturing flaw, a little rough spot on the top center of his back where something (a bit of brick) fell into the molten glaze during the firing. There are a couple of little pin holes in the glaze that also occurred in the manufacturing process. These don't take away... just want to let you know they are there. He is a little treasure that could be the perfect highlight in a romantic or exotic boudoir!

Wonderful vintage Marcel Franck perfume atomizer bottle has a great Art Deco or machine age style to it. All metal parts. The center disc is the atomizer... push it in for the perfume spray. Lid removes for filling. It's tiny... 2-7/8" x 1-3/8" x 3/4"... great for purse or pocket. Also great for perfume bottle and vanity collectors. Around the rim of the spray tip it reads: "Marcel Franck Made in France U.S. Design Patent 160706" which places the year as 1950, although online resourses say it was introduced a couple of years earlier in 1948. There is remnant of original owner's fragrance inside. I purchased it about 30 years ago from an estate sale. I never cleaned the inside or used it... just displayed it with my vintage vanity collection. There are a few light scratches on shiny u-shaped sides but is in very good condition otherwise.

This unusual, finely crafted, deer or antelope pin was made in France and is so marked on the back. Metal is gold in color. Tiny pink rhinestone eyes. The body is turquoise suede in the shape of a large cabochon gem. Someone once told me they thought you were supposed to put perfume on the suede area, but I don't think anyone ever did that because the color is uniform and there is no fragrance to it. It's in very good condition. 1.75" high x 1-1/8" wide. The clasp has a pull back tube surrounding the pin shank for safety. Purchased from an estate sale about 25 years ago.

The Skwish is an unusual vintage atomizer perfume bottle for the purse about the same size as a tube of lipstick, 2.75" long. Brass case with interior glass vial. At the top of the tube is a soft blue rubber pumper button. A metal slide covers the atomizer spray hole. Just slide to the side to cover and uncover. Pretty pattern of black swirling lines, gold stars and circles on a royal blue background. It has been in my collection for about 30 years. Brass finish on slide has darkened areas. Blue pumper button is still flexible. It has a tiny dot of blue color missing. It is in very good condition.

3 vintage soaps in their original box are old store stock, never sold, never used. The wonderful 1920's Art Deco graphics with matching box and soap wrappers features a nude lady dancing in a sea of bubbles. The soaps are made by Jabon. The fragrance is called Mipekado. Distributed by Myrna Products Co. New York, N.Y., U.S.A. 6.75" x 3.75" x 1.75" Underside of box shows graying from storage. Corners and edges of box and soap wrappers are a bit worn but the graphics are fantastic, still bright and beautiful. I purchased it about 30 years ago from a man who had cleaned out the contents of an old store building that was going to be demolished. It has been in my collection of perfume bottles and vanity items ever since.
