1 France- RARE 1940's Big Buddha PERFUME Bottle ADORATION France

Incredible rare 1940's perfume bottle is a metal clad glass bottle in the shape of a golden Buddha. The perfume, made by Norman of Paris was called Adoration. The metal head lifts off to reveal the glass stopper which has been stuck in the bottle since I purchased it at an estate sale over 25 years ago. I actually purchased 2 identical bottles... must have been a favorite fragrance of the lady who once owned them. I sold one back then at Renninger's Extravaganza and kept this one for my own collection. The bottle is 7.25" high. 4-7/8" x 2.75" at the base. Base is marked on back in raised letters in the metal: NORMAN-PARIS MADE IN FRANCE. Front of bottle is marked in raised letters in the metal: ADORATION. The bottle is in excellent condition.

An almost identical bottle to this one is shown on page 150 of the first North commercial perfume bottle book. The differences are that the bottle shown in the book is silver, the fragrance is Saree and the maker was Rodin. The description of the bottles is the same. It's interesting to note that in my bottle the name of the perfume was shaped into the bottle. The Saree bottle appears to have a name plated attached to the bottle with 2 fasteners at each end of the label. I've never been able to find any information about this company and have never seen this bottle for sale anywhere else in all my years of bottle hunting. I believe it is quite rare.
