Chase Art Deco Crumber Set Original Box Chrome Bakelite

Here is the Tidy Crumber by Chase, an original Art Deco, chrome and bakelite treasure in its original box with info on side... (Tidy Crumber No. 90092. Polished Chromium and White Made in U.S.A. by Chase Brass & Copper Co., Inc. Waterbury, Conn.) A crumber was made for disposing of crumbs on the tablecloth by scraping the crumbs with the smaller piece into the larger one... similar to a silent butler. I think they'd make nice serving pieces for appetizers or pastries.

They measure 8" x 5.25" and 7-5/8" x 4-1/8". Both are marked on the underside with Chase archer logo and Chase U.S.A. Chrome stars rivet the handles in place. Of course, we all know that white bakelite always oxidizes as it ages and turns to the varying shades of yellow and butterscotch that we identify with bakelite... and these pieces have done that. The smaller one has gotten darker than the other. I don't think these pieces were used much, if at all. The small piece has a couple of scratches but is really in excellent condition. The larger one has more scratches and a curved area of abrasions which appears to have been caused by the smaller one rubbing against it in the box. It's very shiny everywhere else. The box is worn along the edges and corners and at the opposite end from the paper label, the top is separating along the side seam for about 2.25". It's a great set and it's extra special to find the original box! Purchased from an estate sale.
