Autoharp Napoleon Autoharp Unusual Vintage Musical InstrumentHere is a vintage stringed instrument that appears to be similar to an autoharp in function but is not the same shape as any other I have ever seen. The blue on white label inside reads: Napoleon Harp with a graffic that is probably intended to be Napoleon Bonaparte. Napolean is also applied to the black surface on top with a gold decal. It measures 23.75" x 5.25" x 3" high. There is only one paper number left on the keys... all others have only a dab of glue remaining. Tailpiece is metal and has some oxidation. There are 3 chips in black enamel on one side near the tailpiece. All strings are intact and there's a diamond shaped plastic piece that was found inside that might be the original pick. We purchased it from an estate sale where it had been stored in the garage for many years. I've cleaned it but there is still dirt/dust under the strings. It came from the estate of a retired military man. It had belonged to his wife, a Japanese woman. It came from Japan with her sometime in the 60's and he thought it was a Japanese instrument. This is the only history I know about it. It's in good condition with exceptions noted.

Drum Majorette Baton Motion Clock United Works! VintageThis vintage drum majorette motion clock was made by the United Clock Company of Brooklyn, New York. The clock is working and keeping accurate time. The motion mechanism is also working but the original baton wasn't with it when we purchased it from an estate sale about 25 years ago. Bill has made a good replacement baton that works quite well, turns easily with the mechanism and gives the right look. The clock case is white metal with a golden finish. It's 11.5" high x 9" wide x 4" deep. Back is marked: Pat Pen in the casting. Clock is marked with a patent number for the clock mechanism: 2,140,365 (1938). The golden finish has oxidation/clouding to the surface. We gently buffed some of the high spots with a rouge cloth but didn't want to wear any of the original finish away so the decision of how much to polish or clean will be up to the new owner. The face is in excellent condition. It's a neat old item!

Paper Rock n Roll Curtains The Twist Dance Jukebox NOSHere's a pair of wonderful Rock 'n Roll curtains with a "Let's Twist" theme, circa 1960, the year Chubby Checker's record The Twist topped the charts for the first time. These were New Old Stock in the original cellophane wrappers when we purchased them about 25 years ago. The wrappers are long gone... they came unglued and disintegrated with time, but the curtains were still package folded (until we opened them today to measure and photograph) and they have never been used. They are covered with brightly colored twisting dancers; rock and roll musicians playing the drums, guitar, and trumpet; jukeboxes that say: Twist Tunes; musical notes; and a group of sayings: Come On EveryBody, Around and Around, Let's Go.

Record JULIA LEE-PARTY TIME-Capitol 10" LP Risque Blues 1950Julia Lee's PARTY TIME, Capitol H228, 10" monoral 33-1/3 RPM long playing microgroove, Circa 1950 List of Songs: King Size Papa, Snatch and Grab It, Ain't Got It No More, Tell Me Daddy, Tonight's The Night, Didn't Like It The First Time, Ain't It a Crime, Don't Save It Too Long Julia Lee was Kansas City's "sweetheart of song" known for her husky voice and rockin' piano, a major figure in the blue's revival that followed World War II. She once commented on her risque repetoire by saying that she "sang the songs her mother taught her not to sing." "Come on Over to My House Baby" got her a recording contract with Capitol in 1946. "Snatch and Grab It" sold over half a million copies in 1947. Born on Halloween, 1902. Died December 8, 1958. Light cover wear as follows: corners slightly bumped, pale stain back side edge, short crackle break in surface paper bottom edge from age. Basically in very good condition. Just want you to be aware of what might not show up in photos. Record condition is very good. We cleaned it lightly but there are light crackles first song each side consistant with dust. There are no scratch crackles and it sounds really good and looks quite clean... good black sheen to record surface... none of that gray overplayed color. Total playing time is about 24 minutes for the album.

SongBooks 3 SongBooks '69 Dylan Peter Paul Mary Beatles Rock FolkHere are 3 of my vintage soft cover song books from the sixties.
- Bob Dylan Song Book with 47 early songs. I can't find a copyright date but most songs are copyrighted 1965 and before... I'd been following Dylan since 1962, got my guitar in '66... so I'm sure this book is from the later part of the sixties. 143 pages includes guitar chords above the music; table of contents; first line index; short early biography; drawings and photos; recording info (which other singers have covered each song); and chart of chord diagrams for ukulele, 5 string banjo, tenor banjo, and baritone ukulele. Black cover shows wear as white spots on spine and page edges. Used but in very good condition.
- Peter, Paul, and Mary: A Collection with 46 early songs. All songs by P, P & M or their contemporaries are copyrighted 1967 or before. Previously unrecorded or unpublished works are copyrighted 1968 or before. 79 pages includes guitar chords above the music; table of contents; first line index; photos; and a special section of rare, previously unpublished manuscripts. Slight wear to spine edge of cover. Used but in very good condition.
- The Big 75 Song Book: Easy Big Note Piano copyright 1970 by Warner Bros. has 75 hit songs predominantly by the Beatles' John Lennon and Paul McCartney with a few by Peter, Paul, & Mary; Bob Dylan; & Neil Young; one or 2 by Aretha Franklin; Van Morrison; Gordon Lightfoot; Jerry Jeff Walker and others. 160 pages. Slight wrinkling on cover and light half circle mark from a wet drink upper right corner front cover. In very good condition otherwise.

Sound Scriber Old Record Making Recorder Marconi TubesHere is an antique record making machine. We were told it's for making original acetate records... for recording and playback also. We believe this is the type of machine they used to have in the 1930's and 40's at the seashore amusement arcades where you could go into a booth and friends and family could make their own record to take home as a souvenir. This one is called Sound Scriber made by the Soundscriber Corporation of New Haven, Connecticut. The underside has a paper stapled to it: License Notice and Patent Numbers Applicable to Soundscriber Transcribers: Licensed by Western Electric Company under U.S. patents of American Telephone and Telegraph Co... etc. Patent numbers run from 1939 through 1945. The housing is wood. The thick turntable is black bakelite. It's 8.25" high x 10" wide x 11.5" deep. It weighs a ton! well not really... but it seems extremely heavy for it's size... it's over 20 pounds. We don't know if it works... don't know how to test it. The wooden case has some wear and damage: 2 feet on base appear to have come off and been glued back into place; there is overflow of glue in some of the cabinet joints... at front right corner of the turntable compartment is most noticeable; a small bit of the molding is missing at the left side corner; there are scratches in the finish on top and sides that appear lighter than original surface; there are 3 chipped ends on the wooden fins on one side; and it's dirty inside the area under the turntable.
We purchased 2 of these Sound Scribers from an estate sale. We sold the other one on ebay a few months ago. It had a model number on it: Model T - 25820. I don't see the model on this one but they were almost identical except for their condition and the treatment of the underside... the other one had a quick remove panel that come off easily and we were able to photograph the interior. It had tubes inside of it, some of them were marked: Marconi of Canada. The underpanel on this one can only be removed by undoing all of the screws... so we didn't. It's a neat old item! 45s25
