2 Old Alvin Sterling Silver Candle Holders Glass ShadesHere is a matching pair of beautiful old Alvin sterling silver candle holders... or candle lamps... with fitted glass hurricane style shades, separate candle holder cups that screw into the weighted candlestick bases and can be removed for ease of cleaning or to use the candle holder bases as candlesticks without the cups and shades. Pretty neat items! I've not seen any like this before. They are marked: Alvin Sterling Cement Filled Reinforced with Rod of Other Metal... so they will be sturdy and not easily tipped... as well as beautiful and romantic. Total height is 10-5/8" to the tops of the glass shades. The sterling bases with cups are 4.75" high x 3-3/8" in diamter at the base. Ground glass bases on the glass shades. Shades are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. I have not polished the sterling parts as many folks have their own way of polishing or not. They are also in very good condition with no dents, splits, or scratches. Purchased from an estate sale.

Antique Porcelain Figural Bird Lamp Germany Night LightWonderful lighted porcelain bird figurine was made in Germany probably during the Art Deco era. I've seem other similar bird lamps glazed in the same colors that had factory markings or paper labels, but this one is impressed in the clay with only the word Germany and a number: 3780? last digit isn't legible. I'm not sure what type of bird it is... kingfisher? woodpecker? It has a yellow cockade... probably a bird indigenous to Germany. These unique lamps were used as night lights and/or perfume lamps to create an exotic atmosphere in boudoir or bedroom. He's sitting on a cluster of open ended twigs and since the light fixture is of the clip-in variety, he could also be used as a flower frog if so desired. It's really great looking in a darkened room. The figure glows as do the opentwig ends. Put a dab of perfume on the bulb and the heat will allow the scent to waft out of these openings too. I've had these lamps in with my perfume bottle collection for over 25 years. A hairline crack runs from front tip of yellow cockade to top of lightbulb opening, more noticeable in the yellow than the rest. Two small areas of glaze loss on back show up as white: one is to the right of the bulb opening and one is at lower left of tail. In very good condition otherwise. He's 9.5" high and 5" wide from tail to front foot.

Bases are thick glass, clear on the sides with brushed satin finish on the top. Chromed bulb holders. One has a vertical split in the metal similar to those found on cocktail shaker lids. It won't affect the function. The other has 2 tiny chips on top edge and one larger shallow fan shaped chip on clear top edge which is 1/4" at the widest. Both of these flaws could be turned to the wall or one perfect lamp could be made from a combination of the parts which unbolt from each other. 3.5" high to top of cardboard inner fixture. 5.25" wide x 3" deep. In good condition with exceptions noted. Purchased from an estate sale many years ago.

Art Deco Chrome Desk Lamp Copper Wash Shade Machine AgeGreat looking Art Deco desk lamp with chrome plated step down base has a large metal shade with rolled edge and copper wash on exterior. 11.5" high. Base diameter is 5.5". Diameter at bell of shade is almost 7". Shade hangs low to desk top, illuminating your work, but keeping the light out of your eyes. Bill has rewired it and it's now in good working order. There are some digs and indents in the curved arm and rectangular nut at top. Wear/dark marks to copper wash on shade. I've washed it gently, but didn't think it would be advisable to do anything more. It may be able to be refurbished. It's a good looking piece despite age and wear. Deco 2 Art Deco Chrome Candle Lamps Wht Glass Shades VintageHere's a great looking pair of Art Deco style candle lamps for boudoir, dining table, or anytime or place you'd like to create a special atmosphere. The stepped bases are chromed metal. Textured glass cylinder shades have fired on white outer surface. The fit just right into the base where they are held securely with metal spring pieces on either side of the base. They can be removed for cleaning and lighting or changing the candles. They have a little wax on them on the inside in some spots. The candles fit into spring loaded metal holders that unscrew when replacing the candle. Spring load keeps pushing the candle to the top as it gets shorter from use. The candle holder is also held securely in an opening in the base with spring metal pieces on the sides. 10.5" high. Base is 5" in diameter. Bases are marked only Patent Pending (Pat Pend). One shade has 2 small spots with no white near the top of shade. That one also has a tiny flake on the inside at the rim. Both rims have a rough feel but I think that's how they were made (like the mold lines on vintage glass that feels rough) because I can only see the one little flake. They're in very good condition otherwise. Purchased from an estate sale.

Flashlight Daimon Telko Trio Rd/Grn Flashlight Vintage German WWIIHere is an unusual vintage flashlight with magnifier lens plus red and green filters that slide over the light. It is called the Daimon Telko Trio. Online research says this was a German manufactured flashlight made in the late 1930's, and used by the German military during World War 2. The hinged case is metal with leather strap handle on back; fixed half dome magnifying lens covering the light bulb; exterior On/Off toggle switches which can be locked at On or Off: slide levers in front to move either red or green filters into place; interior clip for extra bulb. It measures 4.5" x 2-5/8" x 1.75" at the thickest point. We don't know what type of batteries went in it or how things were connected. The switch mechanism works. Exterior shows wear to black finish as can be seen in the photos. There's a dab if hardened glue or clear varnish on the hinge side. Some small scratches on glass dome at apex. It's a neat old item, historically interesting, a great collectible, and could possibly be made useful again with a little know-how. Purchased from an estate sale.

Lucite & Roses Rare Obelisk Night Light 1940's VintageThis is the best piece of all the 1940's lucite and roses items! It's a night light... a tall triagular obelisk with 3 actual roses and 3 more roses reflected in the optical illusions caused by the triangle sides. It's 8.25" tall. The triangle is attached to a ridged base with 4 tiny feet and an opening for a tiny clip-in light. The old one was missing when I bought this piece from an estate sale about 30 years ago but we've provided a newer light with cord that can be used in its place. The roses are reverse carved in the lucite making hollow rose shaped openings which are later filled a colored material. There are a few imperfections due to the aging of the material and heat of the light... crackles in the feet, crackles in the light bulb opening and one crackle in the obelisk in bottom center closest to the opening for the bulb. The bulb cavity has some white pigment inside it... probably remnants of whatever held the original fixture in place. It still looks neat... these crackles don't interfere with the roses. It also looks great unlit standing sentinel in a display with others of its type.

Pink Pnk Plastic Flower Lamp Wired Petals 50s Vintage KitschHere's a fabulous fifties night light flower lamp. It's just like the glass flower lamps that were made in the 1930's and 40's but this one is made of that amazing new material... Plastic!! The petals and leaves are all pink translucent plastic with molded veins and imbedded wires. The wires are wrapped with shimmery white silk to bind them together the same as the earlier glass models. The rock crystal base is also plastic. It's about 15" tall and 12" wide. Each flower has a small socket that takes the older style Christmas tree bulbs. It was purchased from an estate sale with the 3 bulbs you see here (included) orange, green, and blue. The base has whitish, yellowish marks around the bottom edge that appear to be residue of tape and/or glue. It may have been taped or glued to a base by a previous owner. It's in very good condition otherwise.

Rare Exotic 1950s Snake Lady Lamp Black Hawaiian KitschWonderful 1950's sculptural portrait of an exotic dreaming lady is also a table lamp. Her long, full, textured hair curls around her neck and shoulders like a huge snake. She's a great artistic product of the mid century preoccupation with exotic tropical, jungle, and oriental environments which turned the newly invented American rec room into a Hawaiian, African, or Chinese paradise. As we all know, rec room was short for recreation room... a place where folks engaged in various forms of recreation... but it also means re-creation... and that's just what they did... re-created their versions and visions of these exotic places. She is definitely exotic and unusual... imaginary blue beings with serpentine hair-do's are very hard to find. Vintage felt on base was partially removed to see if there might be any marks, but I didn't see any. She's very well done and ranks up there with the Fine Arts in Plaster masterpieces of the 50's. 12" high to top of her head with an addition 3.25" for the light socket... harp can be changed to accommodate shade side. She's 7" at the widest point. She's in very good condition.

TV Light Huge 14" Exotic Lady Head Vase Hand w Fan ShadeThis fantastic Exotic lady head vase is also a lamp. The pleated cloth fan she appears to be holding conceals a little light bulb and glows a warm pink when it's lit. Beautiful face. Flowered kimono with coiled frog fasteners that match her headress. Polished fingernails. Gold glaze trim & gold ribbon on fan. Color coordinated in shades of magenta pink, green, and turquoise. She is huge!!... just shy of 14" high... 13.75" to be exact x 10" wide x 7.5" deep. She is just wonderful! I've never seen another like her. None like this pictured in my head vase book either. No maker's marks.
The fan is paper backed cloth which was glued to a wire support behind it. When I purchased her about 30 years ago from an estate sale the fan had come unglued from the wire and gotten rumpled from being stored away. I glued it back but it came unglued again after a few years so I made tiny holes along the second line of gold trim through which I inserted fine wires which I attached to the wire support in the back. This has held and been a good solution. It's still a little rumpled and a bit faded (with a little bit of purple at the bottom edge) but I preferred to keep the original intact rather than replace it. There is a hairline crack in a not too obvious spot... where the bottom of the sleeve connects with the base and going down the side of the base. It actually comes from underneath where they tightened the lamp fixture too tightly when it was made. It was like this when I got it and since it's stayed the same for 30 years I don't think there's much danger of it getting any bigger. Light wear to gold trim at very front bottom edge. Everything else is in excellent condition.
