1940's Vintage Pink Pottery Ringed Mixing Bowl 1 QuartThis vintage pink pottery mixing bowl ringed sides and measures 8" high x 3.5" high. It easily holds one quart with room to spare. There are 8 small unglazed circles around the foot where glaze either didn't cover because of sanding dust prior to firing or air bubbles that burst in the glaze. Two small chips on foot ring might be from manufacturing. Star lines in base are not visible on the inside and bowl is sturdy. Very good condition otherwise. Purchased from an estate sale.

Casseroles Federal Slag Milk Glass 2 Indiv Casseroles 1940 VintageHere are 2 Federal Glass individual casseroles or bakers with lids from the 1930's or 40's. They are milk glass or a white slag glass as there are slag-like swirls in the glass, but instead of a color variation, there is a texture variation... most of the glass is shiny, but the swirls are more matt and ever so slightly yellower in color. 2.5" high x 5" in diameter. Vertical rib pattern on sides. The countersunk lids also make good "coasters" under the casserole base and could be used as a small plate. Federal F logo on underside and the words: OVEN WARE. Grinder Facet Glass Spice Grinder Vintage Kitchen Food UtensilHere's an interesting old grinder or grater... probably for nutmeg, pepper, or other spices. Maybe it would even be useful for parmesan cheese? Faceted glass body with threaded metal push button grinder top. Interior of grinder reads: "DERLAN" INu.AUSL.PAT.ANG. I tried some peppercorns in it and it does grind them but not as easily as a newer twist type grinder. 4.5" high. It's a neat looking item, elegant enough to use on the table, not just in the kitchen. Short thin split in metal at the threaded edge but it still screws on and off properly. Hall Royal Rose Casserole Vintage Oven Safe Hotel ChinaThis vintage casserole was made by Hall China Company in their circa 1940's Royal Rose pattern. Blue base with silver band, white lid with roses, silver banding on handle. Interior of lid is marked in gold: Hall's Superior Quality Kitchenware Made in U.S.A. Hall made a high quality heavy white china like the kind we associate with hotel china. It was made to withstand oven heat, refrigerator cold, and heavy use. The casserole measures 4-3/8" high x 8.5" diameter. It holds @ quarts. We purchased it from an estate sale. It has been used but well cared for and is in very good condition. Very light tan on the upper ridge where the lid sits is the only sign of use I see. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. This pattern goes well with Hall's Rose Parade.

Hall Vitrified China White Tab Handle Casserole w LidVintage white tab handle casserole and lid from Hall China Company. It is unmarked but those of you who are familiar with Hall will know this is one of their familiar casserole shapes, often made in red, cadet blue, and with various rose and other floral patterns. I've not seen an all white one before. It will go well with almost any dinnerware. Hall China is strong stuff, vitrified and thick, like the china made for commercial use in hotels and diners. It will hold up to heavy use and can be used in the oven and dishwasher. It has a couple of manufacturing imperfections that won't affect the use... a shallow ground/smoothed chip in the rim and a popped and glazed over air bubble near the foot. In very good condition. Purchased from an estate sale.

They look like little skyscraper buildings to me. S has mostly worn away on the salt. It also has a couple of little chips under the cap in the screw lines. Of course, these won't be seen... except by the person who fills the shaker with salt :-) There are some scratches and pin point digs on the back side of Pepper. Salt has just 2 scratches. Salt cap has some oxidation. There are no dents in either cap. 4-3/8" high. They are in good used condition with exceptions noted. From an estate sale.

Silhouette Tray Old English Tavern Feast 1930's VintageThis vintage wooden tray features a great silhouette picture of a band of merry men drinking and feasting in an old English tavern lit with candles. Could they be the archers of Sherwood Forest and Robin Hood? They're wearing a similar style of clothing... feathers in their caps, tight fitting leggins and leather boots. 17.25" long x 6-3/16" x 1-1/8" deep. Cut-out handles, dovetailed joints, protective layer of black leatherette on underside. Some wear to brown paint on top edges; a couple of scratches on picture surface as can be seen in photos; slight irregularity in surface at the neck of man on right side head of table; leatherette peeling up on one corner and at a few spots on edge could be re-glued. In good vintage condition with exceptions noted. It's a neat tray... the figures are reminiscent of some of Parrish's early advertising pieces and storybook drawings of the 20's and 30's.

Wrought Iron Antique Hand Forged Large Hinged Double Pot Meat HookInteresting early American hand forged double hook device is hinged with a large hand hammered rivet. It was probably made for fireplace or open hearth cooking... to hold pots or meat above the fire... although I'm not certain of the exact use intended. It's 14" long and opens to about 22". One hook is curled and pointed. The other is shorter and more blunt. It doesn't appear to have been broken as the surface is quite smooth. It has a great aged patina.
