Here are 2 vintage ladies hats purchased from estate sales. One is a 1940's shaped felt hat with cloth designer tag: designed by Phillis New York. The interior is stamped with lion logo and Merimac Satin Regale Imported Fur. Not marked with size. Cloth designer label is coming unsewn from hat. Hat is in very good condition.

The 2nd hat is soft velvet beret style with wide band. Satiny interior lining. Cloth tag sewn in with size 7-3/8. The interior band may need pressing/shaping but the hat is basically in very good condition.

Here are 3 celluloid and rhinestone hat or clothing ornaments from the 1930's. All were rescued from the basement storage of a dress shop in New York City when the building was demolished many years ago. I purchased boxes of old fashion industry embellishments from that building (buttons, buckles, sew-on ornaments, etc). They are old stock, never sold and never used, although some have suffered a little from aging and exposure to dampness, air, etc. These 3 are as follows:

• Long black U shape is set with rhinestones with 2 dark blue hand painted dots between each one. 4.75" long. Curved to fit the curve of a hat with 3 small openings (1 at bottom of U, 1 at each end) for sewing through. I suspect the black was painted on also as there are 3 or 4 little dots near the tip of one leg that look white. It's in very good condition.
• Green curly ended ornament has inset rhinestones and incised ivory colored lines which says the green color is on the surface. 2.25" x 1.5". This one has no pierced openings to sew through as I imagine they could sew over the center bars. It too is curved to fit against the crown of a curved hat. Slight yellowing to one of the curled ends. It's in very good condition otherwise.
• Burgundy colored A shape has inset rhinestones and incised white lines indicting that the color was applied to the surface. If you look closely you'll see that the edges have been beveled by hand filing and then the color applied over top of that work. Three sew through openings... 1 at each corner. 1-7/8" x 1-7/8". It's in very good condition.

Here are 5 wonderful curled celluloid feathers... hat ornaments from the 1930's-40's. They were rescued from the basement storage of an old dress shop in New York City when the building was demolished many years ago, along with many other embellishments (buckles, buttons, etc) used by the fashion industry at the time. They are old stock, never sold and never used. There are 3 different shapes with different combinations of colors of the marbled celluloid. They have feathered edges some with painted tips; some are folded; some are curved; all have center veins; all have 2 tiny openings where they would have been sewed onto the hat. They measure: 5", 3.25", and 2-7/8". All are in very good condition. An unusual find... great for those of you who love and collect vintage hats, clothing, jewelry, and accessories.

Here are 2 vintage hat or hair ornaments.

• 1940's era black faceted celluloid pencil shape has a dark blue cord wrapped end with brass moon shaped ornament enclosed in the center. 8" long. Celluloid and moon are in very good condition. Shiny coating on the blue cording is worn in spots. The circle end moves a bit more than I think was originally intended. It's an unusual piece.
• Pressed brass feather on rippled stem has been colored in shades of purple/burgundy/rose. 6" long. Feather is 2.25" wide. When looking closely it appears that there were a few flakes in the finish that a previous owner has touched up or painted over but those spots aren't very noticeable. It's in very good condition.

Both were purchased from estate sales about 20 or more years ago.

These 2 wonderful beaded bird hat ornaments have been in my collection of jewels and accessories for about 30 years. They are made with glass beads... faceted metallic black tube beads and black seed beads. They each have 2 glass eyes and black beaks which feel as cold as the glass so I think the beaks are probably metal and not plastic which would feel warmer than glass. They're 9" long x 1.5" wide. They were old store stock, tied together with ancient string and tag with description and stock number when I bought them from an antique store way back then. They're slightly dusty in the crevices, 2 or 3 beads are missing towards the tip of one of the tails, but they're in very good condition otherwise. They've been stored in my display cabinet and have never been used. They are definitely unique. I've never seen any others like them.

Here is a vintage Bonwit Teller hatbox with violets and original green carrying cord. It holds 2 hats...

• The first is a Bonwit Teller cloche style, short-brimmed, hat made of Persian lamb type curly black fur (described on the hatbox lid as broadtail, a type of lamb), and a satiny ribbed band with a fringed end. Size 6. Bonwit Teller label. Under the inner band is another label certifying that it is Union Made by the United Hatters, Cap, & Millenery Workers. It is in very good condition.
• The second is a designer hat with Christine Original Park Avenue New York label. It is black velvet with mink trim, black velvet bow in back, and 2 hair combs on elastic fasteners inside. No size. Inner circumference is 21". Bow ends are slightly wrinkled which could always be pressed or steamed. Very good condition.

Here's a vintage hat for a drum major or the leader of marching band. It's bright red with a large golden metal US eagle and shield insignia with a swag of big link chain below it attached at each end with a large gold button. Visor is shiny white plastic coated. Large white plume. We purchased it from an estate sale in the original @@@ box which isn't in great condition but it has protected the hat which appears to have never been worn. The hat is very clean. It's fitted with a leather liner which can be adjusted by shortening and lengthening the drawstring. There is a tag inside but no size. The original owner has written his name and the size: XL on the box. Bill tried it on and has estimated that it's probably about a size 7.5 based on how it fits him. The plume shed a bit when we removed it from the cardboard tube it's stored in, but we've pulled on the feathers and they aren't loose or coming out.
