Unusual vintage wooden picture frame is made in an architectural style similar to old mantel clocks. A metal ring secures the photo and a yellowed transparent covering in place. This auction is for 2 vintage Art Nouveau photo studio picture frames, cardboard folder style, in 2 different sizes. They are folded closed and can be used this way as a protective storage case for a favorite photo, or folded open and displayed as a photo frame... or the inside photo display could be cut away from the folder and used as a wonderful mat inside another frame.

Both are sturdy mottled gray/brown cardboard with painted silver and black decorative Nouveau motifs on the inside display area. The smaller one measures 7" x 4-7/8" with a photo opening of 4.5" x 2.75". The larger one measures 8.5" x 5.5" with a photo opening of 5.5" x 3-3/8". Small frame has cracks/tears in paper surface on outside along fold lines from aging. Large frame has cracks/tears in paper surface on inside along top fold line and a short one on outside bottom edge from aging... also old bend creases in surface paper near slot and point fastening spots but the cardboard underneath is not broken or cracked so is still sturdy. They look great and are really in pretty good condition for paper/cardboard this old... I'd say at least 85 years.

Here are 3 intricately cut works of paper art by the same artist. Two are signed to a friend on the paper backing and dated 1979... 26 years ago. They are carefully cut from folded white paper, making them symmetrical, and placed on a black background for dramatic effect, a type of silhouette in reverse. The subject matter is nature: flowers, trees, birds, and butterflys, in various combinations. All picture areas are 5.75" square. The frames are 8.5" square. Hangers on back. They're in very good condition. Purchased recently from an estate sale.

There's a brassy finish (worn) name plate in museum style so you can title your masterpiece. Vintage 1940's era picture frame is horseshoe shaped with a somewhat glittery textured surface and imbedded mirrors. Acetate protective covering in picture area. Picture slides into place from the top between the 2 layers of cardboard. Paper label on back reads: A product of W. Victor 1202 Arch Street Philadelphia Penna. 8" high x 6" at the widest. Picture area is 4-7/8" high x 3-3/8" at the widest. It is missing the leg that allows it to stand on its own and one piece of yellow glass at top left... the glass has gone but left the silvering in the indent. Some of the textured stucco-like stuff is missing at top left edge.

A pair of lovers rendered in Laurel Burch's inimatable style, hold hands next to a heart shaped picture window in this 1999 picture frame entitled "At the Heart of Being is Love". I purchased it from an estate sale but it seems to be in excellent condition and may have never been used. Signed Laurel Burch on the side in gold lettering. Impress stamped on edge of frame. Gray fuzzy backing. Metal window closures, stand, hanger... all are in extremely good condition. The picture opening is 4.25" across at the widest, 3.5" high on the left side of the heart from point to rounded top. The right side is a little higher. 7.5" x 9" x 1".

Here's a heavy glass mirror with wide beveled edges in a neat old carved and ornamented wooden frame. It's backed with a 7" wide wooden board held in place by tiny nails that have worn indents into the wood. The legs suggest that it was originally mounted on an antique bureau or dresser but it's fairly small so I thought maybe it was once attached to a model of a bureau... perhaps one made for a child and/or a large doll. It's 13.5" high x 13" wide. The mirror shows cloudy spots due to aging and deterioration of the silvering and it moves a bit inside the frame. It might need some cleaning or oiling depending on your preference but it's in good condition. Purchased from an estate sale.

Vintage framed presentation of baby photographs by Bowersox Studios of Dayton, Ohio, is both unsusual and artistic. Bowersox Studios, known for their child portrature, has taken eight photographs of the same child in various poses and assembled them into one large feathered montage.
