Buffalo Bob Howdy Doody Vintage 8x10 Press Photo Kid TVThis 8" x 10" glossy photograph of Buffalo Bob and Howdy Doody was probably a vintage press release photo used by a newspaper. There are red crop marks at outer edge front. Back has blue pencil markings of sizes and blow-up percentage, also some brown marks that are probably old glue where an additional sheet with info to be published was usually attached. There are a few tiny dots of this glue that have bled through on Howdy's forehead. They're yellowy but not very noticeable, just wanted you to know they are there. Also a little on top front edge, not in photo. The edges of the photo are a bit wrinkly with some corners creased and a vertical crease in the photo area, left side, at Bob's right shoulder. Edge damage won't show when framed and wrinkles will most likely flatten under glass. Buffalo Bob Smith was the host of NBC's classic chilren's TV show, The Howdy Doody Show. Along with his freckle faced puppet, Howdy Doody, and a silent clown (except for his horn) named Clarabell (played by Bob Keeshan who later become the star of his own children's show, Captain Kangaroo). Buffalo Bob entertained the children in his audience, known as the Peanut Gallery, with the interactions of a group of comic characters, some human, Princess Summerfall-Winterspring and Chief Thunderthud (who originated the world-famous cry "Kowa-bonga!"), some puppets, Flub-a-Dub and Phineas T. Bluster, to name a few. At the beginning of the program Buffalo Bob always asked "Say, kids, What time is it?" And the Peanut Gallery loudly responded "It's Howdy Doody Time!" The show ran from 1947 until 1960.
