3 Buckle Ornament Jewels 1940's NOS Vintage Sewing RareHere are 3 unique buckle or buckle-like dress ornaments. They are all old store stock from the 1940's. They have never been worn or used. All were rescued from the basement of a dress shop in New York City when the building was demolished in the early 80's to make way for new construction. - Sculptural textured metal buckle incorporates 2 black plastic triangles into its design. They don't test positive for bakelite with scrubbing bubbles test. Could be catalin which was a more stable phenolic resin and doesn't respond to this test. Connected by mesh chains which were intended to be removed from the hooks. One side slides out but the other doesn't. You would need to bend the hook a little more if you would want both sides to slide out. Backs have loop lugs for sewing them to a dress or belt. 4-1/8" wide. Slight oxidation/rust on lugs one side. In very good condition otherwise.
- Two textured goldtone metal leaves connected by a spiraling loop have long metal pieces on the back with which to attach a belt or to sew onto a belt-like waistband. 5-5/8" wide. In very good condition.
- Textured goldtone metal strap with 5 large rhinestones has a moveable lug at each end with which to attach a belt or to sew onto a belt-like waistband. 3-7/8" wide. In very good condition.

They are in very good condition with exceptions, if any, noted with each description. They are as follows:

Bakelite Red White Black Bakelite Buckle 40's Vintage AccessoryWonderful 1930's-40's vintage belt buckle is red, white, and black laminated slices of bakelite riveted to a steel or nickel silver backing with belt loops. It may have been red, white and blue at one time, as patriotic themes were in vogue during the war years and as all of us bakelite lovers know, blue was one of those elusive colors that vanished quickly with age and oxidation. The white slices are translucent in some areas and look like cracked ice... but this interesting effect is probably due to age and the instability of the material... although it really looks great! 1-13/16" wide x 1.5" high. In very good condition with exeptions noted. Purchased from an estate sale.
