Picture3 Buckle Ornament Jewels 1940's NOS Vintage Sewing Rare

Here are 3 unique buckle or buckle-like dress ornaments. They are all old store stock from the 1940's. They have never been worn or used. All were rescued from the basement of a dress shop in New York City when the building was demolished in the early 80's to make way for new construction.

  • Sculptural textured metal buckle incorporates 2 black plastic triangles into its design. They don't test positive for bakelite with scrubbing bubbles test. Could be catalin which was a more stable phenolic resin and doesn't respond to this test. Connected by mesh chains which were intended to be removed from the hooks. One side slides out but the other doesn't. You would need to bend the hook a little more if you would want both sides to slide out. Backs have loop lugs for sewing them to a dress or belt. 4-1/8" wide. Slight oxidation/rust on lugs one side. In very good condition otherwise.
  • Two textured goldtone metal leaves connected by a spiraling loop have long metal pieces on the back with which to attach a belt or to sew onto a belt-like waistband. 5-5/8" wide. In very good condition.
  • Textured goldtone metal strap with 5 large rhinestones has a moveable lug at each end with which to attach a belt or to sew onto a belt-like waistband. 3-7/8" wide. In very good condition.

Picture5 1940's Vintage Buckles Czech Glass Gems Celluloid MOP

Here are 5 vintage belt buckles from the 1930's - 1940's era. They were rescued from the basement storage of an old dress shop in New York City when the building was demolished many years ago along with many other embellishments (buttons, sew-on ornaments, etc) used by the fashion industry at the time. They are old stock, never sold and never used. All the glass buckles were individually wrapped in tissue paper which kept them from the air and helped to preserve them. They are in very good condition with exceptions, if any, noted with each description. They are as follows:

  • Ruby red glass rectangular "gems" are prong set in silver colored metal. Made in Czechoslovakia between the 2 World Wars. Marked: Made in Czechosl. 1.5" wide x 1" high. Metal frame and loop on the one side are slightly bent but all still fits together well.
  • Big topaz yellow glass "gems" are prong set in silver colored metal. Made in Czechoslovakia between the 2 World Wars. Marked: Czecho-Slovakia. 3" wide x 1" high.
  • Carved celluloid fish is yellowish around the face and fins, orangish in the center area. 1-7/8" wide x 1.5" high.
  • Rectangular topaz yellow glass with 9 faceted "gem" divisions on each side are enclosed in folded frame bezels with pressed decorations on the sides. Made in Czechoslovakia between the 2 World Wars. Marked: Czecho Slovakia 81 and GESGESCH81. 2" wide x 1.25" high. A few tiny dark spots of oxidation on brass backs.
  • Mother of pearl curved rectangle with hand cut openings is very shiny and irridescent with shimmering highlights of magenta pink, green, blue, and yellow. 2.25" wide x about 1.5" high.

PictureArt Deco Vintage Belt Buckle Black Bakelite Rhinestones

Dramatic Art Deco belt buckle is made of two mirror image parts with stylized black bakelite wings and rhinestones pave' set into white metal. It was rescued from the basement storage of a 1930's-40's dress shop when the building was demolished in the 1980's. It was old stock, never used, and never sold. 3-3/16" wide x 1-5/8" high. Tests positive for bakelite with scrubbing bubbles test. Extensive black marks on metal backs are probably due to age and basement storage. I haven't tried to clean it. All else in very good condition.

PictureBakelite Red White Black Bakelite Buckle 40's Vintage Accessory

Wonderful 1930's-40's vintage belt buckle is red, white, and black laminated slices of bakelite riveted to a steel or nickel silver backing with belt loops. It may have been red, white and blue at one time, as patriotic themes were in vogue during the war years and as all of us bakelite lovers know, blue was one of those elusive colors that vanished quickly with age and oxidation. The white slices are translucent in some areas and look like cracked ice... but this interesting effect is probably due to age and the instability of the material... although it really looks great! 1-13/16" wide x 1.5" high. In very good condition with exeptions noted. Purchased from an estate sale.
